Hey guys, Ranger here. I’m going to squash the latest controversy between the two most leading and competitive weapon systems around in airsoft to date. The Airsoft Electric Gun, and the Gas Blow Back Gun. The two most sought after weapon systems in airsoft. Im going to start out with the pro’s and the con’s between the two types of weapon systems. First on the list, is the GBB system. This weapon system is the more realistic of the two. With a full metal body, its weight often resembles the real deal. As you fire this weapon you will immediately feel the realism by the blow back system. GBB systems are more reliable than the AEG, but may cause failure in cold weather. The GBB is louder than an AEG system when it fires, so we can probably be sure to say that the GBB is going to be more intimidating than the AEG system. The biggest con to the GBB is its lack of upgrading you can do to the weapon. It can’t be upgraded for more ROF (Rate of Fire), or faster FPS (Feet Per Second). The weapon system comes as is. Another big con is the fact that you only have 30 round magazines (Depending on the type of weapon). This is important do to fire superiority, and though you may say you can just get more magazines, the fact is, they are very expensive. So all in all if your looking for a realistic weapon, the GBB system is right for you. If we take a look at the AEG system, we will immediately find out that the AEG is much lighter in the hand of any person. Though being light weight comes with a cost. AEG’s are far more brittle than the GBB. Most are made cheaply, but can be avoided if you do your homework. The AEG is operated by a battery system thats attached to a motor, that attaches to a gear box. This means this weapon is much more complicated when it comes to internals. All AEG’s are operated by a motor and gear system that essentially fires a BB out the barrel. With so much going on, there will be more of a chance of something going wrong. AEG’s do tend to break down a lot. But once again this can be avoided if you do your homework and upgrade properly. The best part of the AEG is the fact that you can upgrade your gun to any specifications you want. Weather it be ROF, or FPS, your gun can shoot the exact way you like it. Another great pro for the AEG is the fact that you can hold a lot more rounds in a magazine than any GBB system. So when it comes down to rounds, the AEG will come on top every time. So in conclusion, I believe that the GBB system trumps the AEG in realism, and reliability, but NOT on force on force fighting. Hands down the AEG will have more rounds, less reloading, and a higher ROF. So putting this all together, I give this win the AEG for the best airsoft weapon system on the planet.
