We've all been told to keep our distance when we are in an open field; But do we really know why? The most popular reason for keeping your distance in an open area is mostly to minimize casualties when an abuse takes place. Target acquisition is more difficult for the enemy where your separated. Keeping your distance also makes your basic battle drill movements easier to perform, movement becomes less confusing when chaos strikes. Its also good to note that the more spread out you are the more ground you can cover in a large field environment.

Whenever in a CQB situation, remember to always look for ambient light, where there is light, there are shadows.
You're probably wondering why I'm talking about shadows for tactical advice. Well believe it or not, shadows are usually the first thing you see in another room while stacking up to breach. You may be able to see the enemies shadow in the room before entering. Also be aware of your own shadow while coming into a doorway. You dont want the enemy seeing you before you breach.
